Community Dialogue and Sports tournament to promote Social Cohesion
30 August 2022 - The Migration Multi Partner Trust Fund (MPTF) in collaboration with the African Solidarity Campaign (AFRISOC) migrants’ association based in Richard’s Bay organised a community dialogue and sports activities to promote social cohesion and encourage peaceful coexistence between locals and foreign nationals residing in Richard’s Bay. The event started with a dialogue which was attended by different community stakeholders from the community including traditional leaders, university of Zululand students, Ward councillors, South African Police Services, civil society, and local media houses. The second part of the of the event comprised of a soccer and netball tournament where six teams participated. The teams included a mixture of local and foreign nationals playing together in different teams to encourage unity, diversity, and social cohesion. The winners received a gold trophy and gold medals for all the players, second runner ups received silver medals and third runner ups received bronze medals.
